XLamp LEDs for Broadcast Illumination

New! TLCI + CRI 90 + 95 options deliver the best possible illumination for eyes and cameras!

XLamp XP-L2 and XHP50.2 high power LEDs now support the European Broadcast Union's (EBU) Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI).  Both of these LEDs now feature TLCI + CRI 90 or 95 minimums at 5700K CCT.  The inclusion of TLCI support means luminaire designers can use these high power lighting workhorses to deliver the most natural daylight-like experience to indoor and nighttime events, whether viewed by the people in the stands or the audience watching on televisions at home.

"CRI and CQS, or any other metric designed for the human eye, are no help at all when it comes to choosing luminaires for television or video."
– Mike Wood, veteran Entertainment Technology Industry Technologist and Executive

The Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI) was developed over a long period of time beginning with the realization the response curve of the red, green and blue video sensors in an electronic camera are so different from the response curves from the red, green and blue cones of the human eye, that optimal illumination profiles for one may not be optimal for the other.  TLCI provides a way to quantify superior, electronic camera-friendly illumination sources in the same way CRI can provide a metric of a superior human visual system-friendly illumination.  Taken together these two metrics offer the best of both worlds for modern LEDs.
