Cree LED Recognized with Four 2024 BrightStar Awards from LEDs Magazine

Cree LED announced today that four of its innovative product releases have been recognized with BrightStar Awards by LEDs Magazine in two different categories. Honorees were selected by a respected panel of judges from the LED and lighting design and manufacturing community. The BrightStar Awards are given based on five key criteria: performance, reliability, efficiency, ease of integration/use, and innovation in the design of LED-based lighting products and components. Pro9™ version LEDs deliver up to 24% higher efficacy over standard version LEDs without sacrificing color rendering quality.
  • J Series® 5050C E Class LEDs offer the industry’s highest efficacy for high power LEDs at 228 lumens per watt (LPW) typical at 4000K, 70 CRI and 1W. The breakthrough performance of 5050C E Class LEDs enables up to 40% system cost savings through the reduction in optics, PCBs and chassis material and 57% reduction in size.
  • High Brightness LEDs provide enhanced performance for all types of large-format displays requiring superior image quality and reliability and are ideal for stadium signs, airport displays, command center displays and full-color roadway signs. High Brightness LEDs for Large-Format Video Displays, Screens and Signage

Three surface mount diode (SMD) LEDs are optimized for large-format, high-resolution video screen applications. These LEDs provide enhanced performance for all types of large-format displays requiring superior image quality and reliability and are ideal for stadium signs, airport displays, command center displays and full-color roadway signs.

CV94A-FGC 3-in-1 RGB LED
This device is part of Cree LED’s revolutionary CV94 LED family and features an oval 90°/45° beam angle. CV94 LED SMDs are designed to replace multiple through-hole LEDs in outdoor, larger-pixel pitch applications, such as roadway signs and LED billboards. By replacing multiple through-hole LEDs with a single surface mount LED, signage manufacturers can reduce the complexity and cost of assembling complete displays while also increasing image quality.

CLMWB-FKC RGB SMD LED
This high brightness LED features a small 1.6 x 1.7 mm footprint, has a wide viewing angle and is optimized for high-resolution outdoor LED video screens, such as stadium displays and advertising displays. Both CV94A-FGC and CLMWB-FKC LEDs are IPx8 waterproof rated and feature UV inhibitors to increase reliability in extreme weather conditions.

UHD111A-FKA RGB SMD LED
This compact LED offers industry-leading brightness and reliability in a tiny 1.0 x 1.0 mm package that is optimized for high-resolution indoor LED displays used in signage at airports, shopping malls and command centers. Unlike comparable LEDs of this type, the UHD111A-FKA does not contain wire bonds which results in significant improvement in black levels and contrast ratios.

J Series® 5050C E Class White LEDs Offer Substantial Cost Savings

Cree LED’s J Series® 5050C E Class LEDs offer the industry’s highest efficacy for high power LEDs: 228 lumens per watt (LPW) typical at 4000K, 70 CRI and 1W. These J Series LEDs deliver up to three times the light output of competing 5050 LEDs at the same efficacy level and are designed with superior corrosion resistance for the most challenging environments.

Four performance levels in the J Series 5050 LED portfolio address most directional general lighting applications. Unlike other 5050s with asymmetric die layouts that reduce intensity through secondary optics, J Series 5050 LEDs feature optimized layouts that deliver peak intensities up to 12.5% higher than the competition as well as improved color-over-angle.

The breakthrough performance of these LEDs enables substantial system cost savings through the reduction in optics, PCBs and chassis material. Up to 40% system cost savings and 57% reduction in size are possible when redesigning from a lower performance 5050 LED to the 5050C E Class LED. To speed up the design-in process, 5050C E Class LEDs are compatible with optics designed for existing square LES 5050 LEDs.

5050C E Class LEDs are available in 2200K-6500K correlated color temperatures (CCTs) as well as 70, 80 and 90 CRI options for all CCTs. Target applications include outdoor area and roadway lighting, high/low bay lighting and indoor professional lighting.
